Balance

Today was a good day.

For one, except for a walk to the park, Chris and I didn't go anywhere. The weather was gorgeous, so the park was nice. I loved watching him play! It was nice to not be out running all over town. I even got to completely clean my kitchen. Chris took a 3 1/2 hour nap - nice!! And I took a 2 hour nap!

I think what made my day seem so peaceful was balance. Last week, we talked a lot about having balance in our lives. So I am making some changes that I am very excited about. I think the biggest one is hiring a babysitter to come once a week for a few hours. I feel pretty guilty - after all, I only have one kid for crying out loud! But I feel like I am not getting the time that I need to run a business, run a household, and still spend time with my family. Just knowing that there is someone coming Monday morning to play with Chris while I get some time to work is very exciting! I already feel less pressure to work during other times, especially while Chris is awake and/or Mark is home. I found myself today living "in the moment" while I played with Chris. Instead of trying to keep him occupied while my mind rehearsed my ever-growing to-do list, I was able to drink in the sweetness of my baby. The warm softness of his hand in mine as we walked down the stairs of the playground (he won't want to hold my hand much longer!), the funny sound of his little voice exclaiming "Uh-oh!" (his newest word!) as he dropped one of his prized trucks, the toothy, trusting grin he flashed me as I scolded him for wandering away... oh, I thought my heart would burst with joy!

And I am excited about being able to concentrate on my business during the appropriate time. I have learned a lot, and hope that continues.

I pray you all find balance in your lives today!

I am glad to know I am not the only one who feels like she has an ever growing to do list and gets nothing done during the day! I, like you, hired someone to watch the kids for a few hours twice a week so I can get some of the basics done around my house and enjoy more time playing and less time worrying about what isn't getting done. (I hired Stacie!) She's come twice a week for two weeks now and it seems to be working out beautifully! So, to you I say congrats!
